Volvo Cars has unveiled its EX60 midsize electric SUV in the U.S. and is sticking to its pledge to market the vehicle at the same price as its sibling plug-in hybrid XC60, per a May 18 press release.
With a starting MSRP of $59.794, including the $1,395 destination fee, the EX60 undercuts the XC60 PHEV which is priced from $62,545 including its own $1,295 destination.
The EX60 launched in Europe in January. The flagship EX60 P12 all-wheel-drive version has an estimated range of 400 miles, while the P10 AWD claims a range of 322 miles and the entry-level front-wheel-drive P6 is estimated at 307 miles, respectively.
The fast-charging 800-volt architecture of Volvo Cars’ SPA3 platform can provide up to 173 miles of range in as little as 10 minutes, while optimal 10-80% charge times amount to just 16-19 minutes, depending on the model.
The base model P6 Plus comes equipped with a 15-inch OLED touchscreen featuring Google Built-in with Gemini AI assistant, Pilot Assist, a 21-speaker Bose Premium Sound system and Volvo’s Safe Space Technology suite of active and passive safety technology.
“The Volvo EX60 delivers on the key needs of American customers and is ideally positioned to play a major role in Volvo’s growth ambitions in the U.S.,” said Luis Rezende, President, Volvo Car Americas. “Backed by nearly 100 years of safety leadership and Scandinavian design heritage, the Volvo EX60 addresses the biggest barriers for U.S. consumers to switch to an EV, delivering the range Americans want, at a competitive price, with fast, simple charging that fits into daily life,” he added.
