- Hyundai Motor Group is bringing its existing V2X services together under a single global entity, called AllDayEnergy, that will serve as the launch point for future smart-charging and bidirectional-charging technologies in Hyundai, Genesis and Kia vehicles.
- Drivers will see functionality through their respective apps. AllDayEnergy will be rolled out in Kia’s app for UK owners in the second quarter of 2026, with a planned expansion to Europe, the U.S. and Korea, according to a release from the automaker.
- AllDayEnergy allows unified branding and software, with the automaker promising “a consistent and trusted experience across different markets and service types.”

Hyundai says that the AllDayEnergy name “reflects the Group’s vision of making smart energy management an integral part of customers’ daily lives and advancing its transition into a smart energy solutions provider.”
AllDayEnergy will initially cover smart charging, which will allow vehicles to charge at particular times of the day — and potentially at reduced power — that can altogether help reduce the load on public utilities, allowing them to emphasize lower-emissions sources, while drivers can take advantage of lower time-of-use rates.
Later, the service will roll out bidirectional charging to the home and to the grid, abbreviated V2H and V2G, respectively.
Hyundai has had its sights on bidirectional charging for many years. The E-GMP platform that underpins most of the EVs currently offered in the U.S. from Kia, Hyundai and Genesis was engineered for the tech, but taking advantage of it at home requires third-party hardware at present.
Kia currently offers a bidirectional DC wall charger from Wallbox that, with the installation of the accompanying grid disconnect switch, allows the EV9 or EV6 to become an energy storage device capable of providing home backup power or EV charging with solar energy.
Hyundai has already conducted several pilot projects in Europe utilizing bidirectional charging on the Ioniq 5 EV. And in November 2025 it announced the intent to expand smart charging and V2G in Europe plus V2H functionality in the U.S. — starting soon for the Hyundai brand with the Ioniq 9.
AllDayEnergy will face a unique set of challenges in the U.S. — most notably that there are about 3,000 electric distribution companies, or utilities, each with a different combination of rates, rules, regulations and permitting.
In 2024, BMW Group, Ford Motor Co., Honda Motor Co. and Nissan Motor Co. launched ChargeScape, a technology and services platform intended to start connecting utilities with EVs from those automakers’ brands and vehicles. Rivian, Tesla and Stellantis have since joined that effort, as well as several charging networks.
General Motors has its own separate GM Energy business unit to oversee energy management, stationary storage and bidirectional charging tech, including its own branded hardware. Hyundai hasn’t yet said if a unit such as this is part of the plan for AllDayEnergy, but the company does note that this signals a new identity for the company.
“When we launch AllDay Energy through our Kia App later this year, we will be taking a significant step towards establishing our identity as a smart energy service provider,” Woong Taue Hwang, VP and head of the EV Energy Strategy Group at Hyundai Motor Group, said. “We will continue to expand our AllDayEnergy service globally, allowing customers to seamlessly optimize their energy usage, reduce their energy costs, and contribute to grid sustainability.”
