Lotus, the British brand majority-owned by China’s Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, has unveiled its new Emira 420 Sport, the company’s most powerful, lightest and aerodynamic four-cylinder internal combustion engine sports car.
The track-day-focused 420 Sport becomes the new halo model of the Emira lineup with a Mercedes-AMG derived 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 414 hp and 368 lb-ft, up from 400 hp and 354 lb-ft in initial First Edition models already offering the AMG engine.
The 420 Sport claims an acceleration time of 0 to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds, with a top speed of 186 mph.
The car has also been on a diet and is 55 pounds lighter and with the same amount of extra downforce over its base sibling. A program of aerodynamic revisions improves cooling and track performance without increasing drag.
Lotus has also introduced a removable tinted glass roof panel option for the Emira, available now across the full model range.
In the cabin, design changes support both road and track driving, with 12-way adjustable seats, a driver-focused layout, controls and new carbon fiber gearshift paddles.
“Emira 420 Sport is proof of our commitment to Focus 2030 and we’re listening to our customers,” said Qingfeng Feng, Lotus Group CEO in a statement. “This is what obsessive engineering looks like. We’ve built on everything Emira has achieved to date to deliver a car that is even more connected, more intuitive, and more rewarding to drive. It is a car for the drivers.”
The Emira 420 Sport is available to order now, with customer deliveries expected from August 2026. Starting MSRP is 129,900 euros in the European Union, 105,900 British pounds in the U.K. and $122,900 in the U.S.
