Ford Motor Co. will launch five new passenger car vehicles in Europe as it targets growth on the continent using a multi-energy approach, the company announced in a May 18 press release.
The automaker expects the new models to launch by the end of 2029 with the marketing tagline “made in Europe for Europe.”
These new models will include electric vehicle products built as part of Ford’s collaboration with Renault announced in December.
Models planned include a multi-energy compact SUV member of the global Bronco family produced at Ford’s plant in Valencia, Spain, from 2028.
There’s also a B-segment electric sports-focused hatchback to be built at Renault’s Ampere ElectriCity EV manufacturing hub in France, along with a compact electric SUV aimed at the urban market.
Two yet-to-be-announced, multi-energy crossover models will complete the new lineup before the end of the decade.
On the commercial side, the automaker will also launch a new Ranger Super Duty pickup targeting emergency services, forestry, mining and military customers. It can tow up to 4.5 metric tons and carry a nearly 2-ton payload with factory-fitted heavy-duty suspension, extra underbody protection and higher ground clearance.
To cope with Europe’s increasing number of electric-only urban zones, a new zero-tailpipe-emissions Ford’s all-new Transit City van will target business customers who have to access these areas. The model will be offered in three body styles, including a chassis cab for conversions, and will arrive in European showrooms later this year.
However, along with the announcement, Ford called on European Union regulators to give consumers the right to choose the powertrains that suit their needs, providing “a realistic, reliable planning horizon,” the statement said.
“We’re committed to supporting customers on the journey to a zero-emission future, but when emissions targets are decoupled from the reality of consumer demand, the consequences are counterproductive,” said Jim Baumbick, president of Ford Europe. “The fastest route to zero emissions is the one people will actually take.”
