Stellantis’ only luxury segment brand, Maserati, will announce a new business strategy after having to abandon its previous one with the departure of former CEO Carlos Tavares.
The loss-making performance carmaker’s boss says the new strategy will be announced shortly after the new Stellantis group CEO, Antonio Filosa, begins work at the end of June, Reuters reports.
Scheduled new-model launches, including Maserati's first battery-electric vehicle, were scrapped when the brand’s previous business plan was shelved.
Now Maserati CEO Santo Ficili says a revised plan is being finalized, including new products and a restructuring of relations with dealers and the brand’s post-sales network.
“We have clear ideas about what we want to do. We hope we can be ready very soon,” Ficili tells journalists at the Motor Valley Fest near the brand’s headquarters in the Italian city of Modena. “Let's wait for Antonio to take up his job,” he says of Filosa.
Ficili says Stellantis’ new CEO is a fan of the Maserati brand and the automaker will maintain design, engineering and production in Italy, adding, “Antonio loves the brand, I am sure we’'ll do great things.”
Ficili, who is also the head of Stellantis premium brand Alfa Romeo, says a review of that brand is also imminent, helped with direction from consultants from McKinsey.
