Renault’s budget sub-brand, Dacia, is embarking on a two-pronged future model strategy that includes next generation hybrid powertrains and its second battery-electric model.
The automaker’s latest business statement places near-term ambitions on hybrid models that will be the first to use its parent company’s latest hybrid technology while its medium-term strategy will see the launch of a BEV version of its most popular model, the Sandero B-segment urban supermini, to join the current struggling Spring electric model.
While the brand announces strong sales of 676,340 vehicles in 2024, up 2.7% year-on-year, the A-segment SUV's sales collapsed by 63% compared to 2023 as European consumers turn their backs on the infrastructure-challenged technology.
Three models, Hybrid 140 Jogger, then the Dacia Hybrid Duster and Hybrid 155 Bigster, will be the first cars within the Renault Group to benefit from its latest electrified powertrains.
At the same time, Dacia’s CEO Denis Le Vot, tells journalists that the Sandero “full electric solution” will be launch by the end of 2027.
He adds: “In 2024, Dacia once again demonstrated its ability to combine performance, robustness and accessibility. Our results testify to customers' growing confidence in our models and confirm that we are pursuing our strategy.”
