Stellantis’ Chinese joint venture, Leapmotor International, brings an all-wheel-drive version of its battery-electric C10 midsize SUV to Europe later this year.
The C10 Design 81.9-kWh AWD is the latest addition to Leapmotor’s BEV and hybrid lineup being marketed through the Stellantis dealership network. The new model is set to make its public debut at the Zurich Auto Show in October.
Leapmotor says it is responding to customer demand for a longer-range, faster-charging BEVs, and one with the improved driving dynamics of AWD.
Built on the JV’s 800V architecture, the vehicle uses the usual dual-motor configuration for BEVs, with electric-powered units on both axles with on-demand functions.
Its ‘smart’ drivetrain system claims to instantly respond to changing surfaces, from rain-soaked city streets to snow-covered mountain roads or gravel forest trails.
The new model claims a total output of 585 hp and a 0-to-62-mph (100 km/h) time of just 4.0 seconds.
Meanwhile, its LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery claims ultra-fast charging from 30% to 80% in just 22 minutes.
More technical details, prices and market availability are to be announced at a later date, Leapmotor says.
