Ford Motor Co. unveils its second Verve concept car, which it says provides further details about its vision for a new global family of small cars.

The Ford Verve Concept 4-door notchback, shown at the Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition in China this week, “signals the importance of Asia in Ford’s global plans,” the auto maker says.

“Our future small car is being developed as a global car,” says Phil Spender, chief operating officer of Ford Motor China Ltd. “It will be designed in Europe, engineered in Germany and manufactured globally.”

The Verve notchback shares Ford’s kinetic-design philosophy applied to the first Verve concept, a 3-door hatchback shown at September’s Frankfurt auto show.

Ford says a third Verve concept will be shown at Detroit’s North American International Auto Show in January.
