Porsche announces it has partnered with Mobileye, the autonomous driving division spun out of Intel in 2022, for the supply of Level 2+ advanced driver-assistance systems.

The German automaker says it intends to use Mobileye's SuperVision technology as the basis for a range of ADAS functions in future production models.

Described as Mobileye's most advanced ADAS technology currently in production, SuperVision is claimed to allow hands-off driving in combination with a navigation function, provide autonomous lane change capability and allow automated overtaking of slower vehicles on multi-lane roads.

At the center of Mobileye's flagship ADAS system is a series of sensors, including 11 cameras, four short-range radars and a single front long-range radar.

The Israel-based company claims more than 60,000 vehicles already have been equipped with various levels of SuperVision functionality. It also says it cooperates with more than 50 automakers worldwide on various ADAS solutions.

“Mobileye is one of the world’s leading providers of automated driving functions. This technology will help us forge ahead with our strategy of modern, sporty luxury,” Porsche CEO Oliver Blume says.

The partnership announcement comes after Porsche parent company, the Volkswagen Group, made public sweeping changes to the board of its Cariad automotive software division. From June 1, Cariad will be headed by Bentley production director Peter Bosch.

Cariad already cooperates with Mobileye. It also boasts existing ADAS partnerships with Bosch, Qualcomm and China-based Horizon Robotics.
