Dealer Rents Amusement Park for 75th Jubilee For Holman Automotive's 75th anniversary celebration, Chairman Joseph Holman rented an entire amusement park for 3,500 employees and their families.

The event at Clementon Park in southern New Jersey celebrated the founding of the family retail business started by Mr. Holman's father, Steward, in 1924.

In 1925, the business moved from the converted garage to an official dealership in Pennsauken, NJ, which sold Model T, Model A and V-8 Model Fords.

Seventy-five years later, the company's headquarters still are in Pennsauken. But today, Holman Enterprises covers 10 dealerships, a leasing and rental company and an engine and parts reconditioning facility.

And the business continues to expand, most recently with the opening of Holman Ford in Turnersville, NJ.

Gulf States Toyota Names President Gulf States Toyota Inc., an independent Toyota distributor serving 139 dealers in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi, has named Thomas "Toby" Hynes pres-ident and general manager.

Mr. Hynes had been president and COO of Ford Motor Co.'s PRIMUS Financial division since November of 1995.

Mercedes-Benz Makes Key Appointments Mark Jackson is the new general manager of infor-mation technology at Mercedes-Benz USA's Montvale, NJ headquarters.

He replaces Vince Morrotti, who joins parent company DaimlerChrysler as director of enterprise programs and leadership.

Mr. Jackson's most recently had been senior manager of transportation systems and e-business solutions at DaimlerChrysler.

David Schembri is the new general manager of the Los Angeles region. It covers 27 dealers in southern California and Hawaii. He began his automotive career in 1975 with American Motors and held field sales and service positions at Volkswagen of America before joining MBUSA.

Mr. Schembri moves to LA from the New York region, where Paul Juron has become general manager.

Former Lot Boy Runs Dealership Mission Imports Mercedes-Benz of Laguna Niguel, CA names Pat Bolter as its new general manager. He replaces Louise Murphy who retired after 26 years with the dealership.

Mr. Bolter began his automotive career as a lot boy at Jim Slemons Imports in Newport Beach. He joined the store's sales staff in 1978 and moved up the ranks, ultimately becoming general sales manager in 1987.
