A Ward's Dealer Business article headlined “2 Megas in Charlotte, NC, Like Certified Vehicles” on page 28 in the May, 2005 issue contained incorrect information about Sonic Automotive's certified used-car initiatives.

The article said 36% of Sonic's stores sell certified vehicles. In fact, all but four Kia stores in Sonic's 170-store network sell certified used cars. Certified sales accounted for 36% of Sonic's used-car deliveries, says Larry Beasley, who oversees the dealership chain's certified program.

The article said Beasley predicted 60% of Sonic stores would sell certified used cars. In fact, he predicted certified vehicles would account for 60% of Sonic pre-owned vehicle sales.

Although some industry insiders say the term “certified used cars” confuses some shoppers who associate it with less stringent certified programs of the past, Beasley did not say that.
