Smith Joins Journalism Hall of Fame

Editor-at-Large David C. Smith, who was the first editor of Ward's AutoWorld in 1970 and went on to lead Ward's coverage for the next three decades, has been inducted into the Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame. Editor-at-Large David C. Smith, who was the first editor of Ward's AutoWorld in 1970 and went on to lead Ward's coverage for the next three decades, has been inducted into the Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame.

The award caps nearly 50 years of covering murders, tornadoes, politics and, of course, the auto industry. Smith wrote for the Detroit Times, Toledo (OH) Blade, The Wall Street Journal and Detroit Free Press. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Korean War.
