The Trump tariff story continues to unfold. The UAW is pressing the Detroit Three, especially Stellantis and General Motors, to put production back into underutilized U.S. plants. Suppliers are saying they hope automakers put sales volume and market share over profits as they cope with tariffs. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi says tariffs may force it to shift production back to the U.S., probably through its alliance with Nissan, which has excess capacity in the U.S.
