Porsche Cars North America Inc. reveals its redesigned-for-’07 911 Targa 4 and 911 Targa 4S at the L.A. Auto Show.
The Targa lineup features, for the first time, permanent all-wheel drive. Its rear body profile also is 1.73 ins. (4.4 cm) wider than the standard 911 Carrera.
Also featured is a large, sliding-glass roof and glass rear hatch adorned by an anodized aluminum trim strip that runs the entire length of the roof frame. Retracted in seven seconds, the roof creates a 4.8 sq.-ft. (.45 sq.-m) opening.
The 911 Targa 4 is powered by a 325-hp 6L flat-6 boxer engine that boasts 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) acceleration in 5.1 seconds and a top test-track speed of 174 mph (280 km/h). The 911 Targa 4S features a 355-hp 3.8L engine variant that goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and tops out at 179 mph (288 km/h).
The 911 Targa 4 is priced at $85,700, while the 911 Targa 4S is $95,900.
Both cars currently are on sale.
