The U.S. Council for Automotive Research names automotive management consultant Donald Walkowicz to the position of USCAR executive director, effective immediately.

Walkowicz, who served in various roles at General Motors Corp. until 2001, also has held two non-consecutive 2-year terms as the council’s director in 1992 and 1998, USCAR says.

“We want to build on the great partnerships we have with government, including the U.S. Dept. of Energy, the national laboratories, automotive suppliers and others, as we identify new collaboration opportunities,” Walkowicz says of USCAR’s desire to strengthen its automotive technology development efforts in the U.S.
