The new chairwoman of the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Assn. is Sheila Meyer, dealer principal of the oldest Chevy dealership in the state, Meyer Chevrolet in Queens.
She is the third woman to head the association in its 96-year history. The association represents 650 franchised dealers, all in metropolitan New York. They sell 700,000 vehicles annually.
Meyer took over her dealership eight years ago. She is one of a handful of women new-car dealer principals in New York. She recently spent $1 million renovating her dealership, which has been in business for almost 90 years.
