Serial Output of New Opel Astra Begins in Poland

The auto maker expects to increase production of the 5-door hatchback to 25 cars per hour by the end of the year.

VIENNA – General Motors Mfg. Poland Sp. z o.o. launches serial production of the fourth-generation Opel Astra at its plant in Gliwice, Poland.

GM expects to increase production of the 5-door hatchback to 25 cars per hour by the end of the year.

In addition to the new Astra, the Gliwice plant produces the third-generation Astra III sedan and Zafira multipurpose vehicle.

In contrast to Germany, where GM’s decision to retain Adam Opel GmbH has resulted in anger among political leaders and Opel staff, Poland’s reaction to the news has been positive.
