DC Launches Minivan Production in Taiwan

DC licenses production to China Motor Corp.

Chrysler Group and China Motor Corp. (CMC) launch production of Town & Country minivans designed specifically for the Taiwanese market.

Chrysler’s acclaimed minivan has been “specifically adapted” by CMC to meet the demands of Taiwanese customers, Chrysler says. Most notably, exterior styling changes were made to better reflect the tastes of Taiwanese buyers.

CMC is licensed by Chrysler to assemble the minvans at a plant in Yangmei. “Licensed manufacturing is a very efficient way to bring vehicles to the market quickly,” says Till Becker, chairman and CEO of DaimlerChrysler Northeast Asia. Chrysler does not reveal projected volumes for the vehicles.

Chrysler also builds the Town & Country in St. Louis and in Windsor, Ont., Canada.
