Subaru is a unique car company. Some may even call it a unicorn.
Based in Japan, Subaru racks up 80%-plus of its sales in North America. It is headquartered in Camden, NJ, far from Detroit, California or any of the Southern transplants with company headquarters south of the Mason-Dixon Line, such as Toyota, Nissan and Mercedes-Benz.
It's a mass-market brand, but sells fewer than 1 million vehicles globally...for now.
For the past 11 years, as automakers of every stripe have poured SUVs and CUVs into the U.S., the Forester CUV has been the top-rated vehicle in its class in Consumer Reports’ annual rankings.
WardsAuto Podcast Host David Kiley talks with Subaru President and COO Jeff Walters on the occasion of his one-year anniversary in the company's C-Suite.
