The European Automobile Manufacturers’ Assn. says that because EVs have fewer components than internal-combustion-engine-driven models, making them requires 60% fewer staff in powertrain and parts manufacturing, as well as maintenance.

The updated 1.5L high-compression engine, known as “evo,” relies on the Miller combustion cycle, which helps improve efficiency and reduce emissions and heat by allowing the intake valves to remain open during part of the compression stroke.

A concept video shows that when a vehicle is ordered by smartphone to charge, it will automatically cruise to a vacant wireless charging station. Once fully charged, the EV will relocate to a vacant parking space using an automated system.
