Audi is set to launch 20 new models, including more than 10 battery-electric vehicles, by 2025 in what CEO Markus Duesmann calls “the biggest product initiative” in the German automaker’s history.

Speaking at Audi’s annual accounts press conference in Ingolstadt, Germany, Duesmann outlines plans that will see the company greatly extend its number of BEV models.

“We’ve set the course to go 100% electric. By 2025, we will have launched around 20 new models, more than 10 of which will be electric,” he says, adding, “By 2027, we will seek to offer an electric vehicle in each core segment.”

Included in Audi’s BEV push is the upcoming A6 e-tron, a CUV based on the PPE electric-car platform developed in a partnership with Porsche and confirmed to be unveiled by the end of 2023. It will be the first BEV to be produced at Audi’s Ingolstadt manufacturing plant in Germany.

A compact BEV model similar in size to the existing internal-combustion-engine A3 is also under development, according to Duesmann.

At this stage, it is not known if the 20 new models referred to by the Audi CEO are all new from the ground up or include facelifts of existing models.

Reaffirming Audi’s plans to cease ICE models by 2033 as part of aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, the Audi CEO says high demand for BEV models confirms it is “on the right track.

“Sales of electric models increased by 44% year-on-year” in 2022, Duesmann adds.

Touching on 2023, he says: “Demand remains high. In January and February, our sales of electric models worldwide were up almost 40% compared to the same months last year.”

Duesmann also confirms Audi has received 20,000 pre-orders for the recently introduced Q8 e-tron.
