Kia’s EV2, a compact battery-electric CUV, will be the South Korean brand’s most affordable BEV when it launches in 2026.
The EV2 showcases a boxy design consistent with Kia’s larger EV models, such as the EV9. Despite its compact size, measuring just under 160 in. (4,064 mm) long, approximately 71 in. (1,803 mm) wide, and 62 in. (1,574 mm) in height, the EV2 maintains a somewhat rugged and premium appearance. Design features that stand out include vertical daytime running lights, pronounced wheel arches and robust bumpers, all contributing to its SUV-like stance.
Inside, the EV2 is designed to maximize space and versatility. One notable feature is the ability to fold up the rear seats, allowing the front seats to slide back fully on their rails. This configuration provides occupants with ample space. Additionally, the vehicle includes removable triangular speakers that can be used outside the car, enhancing the outdoor experience during activities like camping or tailgating.
Performance and Battery Options
While all the technical details are yet to be confirmed, the EV2 is expected to offer two battery options, according to South Korean news reports: a 55-kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery anticipated to provide a range of approximately 270 miles (400 km); a 43.3-kWh li-iron-phosphate battery, the more affordable variant, projected to offer a range of around 185 miles (298 km).The EV2 is built on Kia’s 400V E-GMP platform, which supports rapid-charging capabilities. It’s expected to achieve a 10% to 80% charge in approximately 30 minutes, depending on the battery configuration and charger used.
