- "The future of automotive retail is about meeting customers wherever they choose to shop while delivering an experience built on trust, transparency, and convenience," said Ryan LaFontaine, CEO of LaFontaine Automotive Group, in a statement. “Adding our more than 40 Michigan retail locations to Amazon Autos marketplace is a testament to our team's vision, our commitment to continuous innovation, and our relentless focus on creating the best possible experience for every guest.”
Dive Insight:
Amazon Autos launched its retail partnership with Hyundai Motor Co. in December 2024, allowing customers in 48 U.S. cities to purchase a new vehicle online and arrange for pickup at a local Hyundai dealer.
More car shoppers today expect an omnichannel purchase experience. The Amazon Autos marketplace supports this for LaFontaine, providing a way to reach more potential customers by allowing them to browse the inventory of multiple dealerships and compare pricing. It also provides franchised dealers with tools to manage their retail business and track sales performance on the platform.
"Digital retail isn't about replacing dealerships, it's about creating more choice, greater convenience, and a better experience for today's consumer," said Carlito Mojica, Senior Manager of Retail Development for LaFontaine Automotive Group. "Amazon Autos introduces another trusted touchpoint for customers, while LaFontaine continues to deliver the local expertise, relationships, and support that make all the difference throughout the ownership journey.”
To join the Amazon Autos marketplace, dealers must have physical dealership locations in supported markets, be an authorized retailer for new vehicles and complete an onboarding process. The platform allows dealers to select their own fees included in a vehicle’s listing price, which dealers must honor.
Dealers are also responsible for keeping inventory and listing details accurate, managing all customer transactions, including completing all of the required paperwork and prepping the vehicles for customer pickup, as well as maintaining the compliance and training requirements of Amazon Autos.
In August 2025, Amazon Autos announced it was adding used and certified pre-owned vehicles to its marketplace. That same month, Hertz Car Sales announced it was offering pre-owned vehicles on the Amazon Autos marketplace, allowing customers to browse a nationwide inventory of thousands of used rental fleet vehicles.
Used and CPO vehicles listed on Amazon Autos must be 10 years old or newer and have less than 100,000 miles, according to Amazon.
In October 2025, Amazon Autos announced expanded used-vehicle financing options with the addition of three major lenders — Chase, Santander and Wells Fargo — with plans to add more financing options for customers in the future.
In November 2025, Ford Motor Co. announced it would sell Ford Blue Advantage CPO vehicles on Amazon Autos. The program initially launched in Los Angeles, Seattle and Dallas, with plans to expand to additional cities. All of the CPO Ford vehicles offered on Amazon Autos come with a money-back guarantee, allowing a customer to return it within 14 days or 1,000 miles, whichever comes first.
