Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc. taps insider Robert C. Daly to replace an exiting Dave Illingworth to oversee North American planning.

Daly, 58, is being elevated from group vice president to senior vice president and will be in charge of the Toyota Customer Services division and the company’s AirFlite Inc. aviation services subsidiary, in addition to running the North American Planning department.

Joining TMS in 1985 as an industry affairs manager in the auto maker’s Washington office, Daly has held a number of positions in the auto maker’s service and logistics operations before being named group vice president-Toyota Customer Service.

Prior to joining Toyota, Daly worked for the National Automobile Dealers Assn. and Ford Motor Co.

Illingworth, chief planning and administrative officer, announced in March he would retire effective Jan. 1.
