VIENNA – OAO Avtoframos, the Moscow-based joint venture owned by Renault SA and the city of Moscow, will launch production of the Renault Sandero hatchback in late 2009.

The Sandero, which already is manufactured in Brazil as a Renault and in Romania under the Dacia badge, will be the plant’s second model in addition to the Renault Logan.

In February 2007, Avtoframos announced plans to double the plant’s capacity from 80,000 to 160,000 cars per year. The additional capacity is to be used for the Sandero.

Avtoframos assembled 72,762 Logans last year.
