Insurance-claims representatives typically inspect damaged vehicles before repairs in order to estimate costs.
GMAC Insurance now has a post-repair inspection service designed to promote consumer confidence by ensuring the quality and value of repairs after an accident.
As part of SmartInspect, customers can opt for a GMAC Insurance representative at no cost to re-inspect and approve all work done in the repair process.
Nearly six million people report auto accidents each year, and traditionally, drivers are faced with managing the repair process on their own. But GMAC says industry data suggests that some car owners are not fully satisfied with the resulting repairs.
“Many insurers remove themselves from the claims process once the check has been issued for repairs, leaving drivers on their own to procure quality service,” says George Hall, a GMAC claims executive.
He adds: “We're not just in the business of processing a check.”
If representatives identify situations where repairs were not completed as estimated on the front end, they will address the situation with the repair facility on behalf of the customer and resolve it accordingly.
SmartInspect is the latest offering within GMAC Insurance's SmartServices, a first-of-its-kind collection of benefits intended to help ease the entire recovery process after an accident.
Most recently, the company announced the SmartValet, a service designed to take care of all the transportation details when a customer is involved in an automobile accident — from rental car delivery and pick up of the damaged car to returning the repaired vehicle back to their doorstep.
In addition, GMAC Insurance's SmartParts Promise guarantees in all collision repairs the use of parts made by the original vehicle manufacturer.
