Mercedes-Benz Unveils First Battery-Electric Maybach Model

Features include a refrigerator in the rear console, a champagne flute holder and No.12 Mood Ebony, a fragrance specifically created for the hyper-luxury SUV.

Venerable Maybach brand crosses into all-electric territory.

Mercedes-Benz USA announces the ’24 Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV is available to order at U.S. dealerships at a starting price of $179,900.

The Maybach brand’s first all-electric model is powered by dual permanent-synchronous motors producing 649 hp and 700 lb.-ft. (949 Nm) of torque. Provisional WLTP range is 372 miles (600 km) on a full charge.

Maximum ride comfort is provided by the standard Airmatic air suspension with daptive damping and rear-axle steering with a wheel angle of up to 10 degrees.

The standard MBUX Hyperscreen comprises a 17.7-in. (45-cm) central display, 12.3-in. (31-cm) passenger display and 12.3-in. instrument cluster. The Hyperscreen allows the driver to control 80% of the most common interactions directly without needing to exit the main application. The system is personalized with intelligent and predictive suggestions, Mercedes-Benz says.

Scenting throughout the cabin is part of the standard Air Balance Package. A luxurious fragrance called No.12 Mood Ebony was specifically created for the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV.

The rear seating area of the EQS 680 comes with Maybach-exclusive Nappa leather upholstery from natural materials. The SUV is the first Mercedes-Benz model to be fitted with vegetable-tanned leather. Coffee-bean shells are used as tanning agents along with other components.

Standard equipment includes front and rear seats equipped with ventilation, massage function and neck and shoulder heating, as well as available calf massage included as part of the Executive Rear Seat Package Plus. Two 11.6-in. (29.5-cm) MBUX Rear Seat Entertainment displays are fitted to the front-seat backrests and the center console holds an MBUX rear tablet. The standard Burmester 4D Surround Sound System features the Dolby Atmos immersive audio.

Automatic comfort doors in the front and rear are standard. The recessed door handles extend if the driver approaches the vehicle from up to 20 ft. (6.1 m). In addition, the driver door opens automatically when approaching the vehicle from as far as 5 ft. (1.5 m). Digital Light headlights welcome and say goodbye to the driver with what Mercedes-Benz calls a “special light show.”

Other highlights include a refrigerator in the rear console, champagne flute holder and folding tables in the rear.

Specific features on the EQS 680’s exterior include chrome surrounds on the side windows and chrome-plated B-pillar trim, a decorative element that highlights the length of the rear seating area. Two-tone paint with a filigree pinstripe is available in five color combinations: Cirrus Silver/Obsidian Black, Cirrus Silver/Nautical Blue, Obsidian Black/Selenite Grey, Obsidian Black/ Kalahari Gold and Sonoran Brown/Onyx Black.

The optional Night Series package features exclusive wheels and is available with the exterior colors of Obsidian Black, Diamond White and an exclusive two-tone paint finish, Obsidian Black/Mojave Silver.

The Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 and its battery are manufactured at Mercedes-Benz plants in Alabama.

Prices for the SUV do not include a $1,150 destination and delivery charge.
