Pilot production at the Slovak plant has just begun.

PCA Slovakia, which started production in 2006, manufactures Peugeot 207 hatchbacks and Citroen C3 Picasso microvans.

It will add the Peugeot 208, the successor to the 207, next year. Plans call for production of both Peugeot 207 and 208 models for part of 2012.

The auto maker employs some 3,000 people in two shifts at the plant. It plans to add 800 workers and introduce a third shift next summer.

The company manufactured 186,140 vehicles last year.
