Infiniti will show later this month at the Frankfurt auto show the Q30, an all-new product from the Nissan luxury brand that blends the attributes of a CUV with a premium compact car.

The “premium active compact,” as Infiniti calls the Q30, will go on sale next year in the U.S. alongside the QX30 CUV unveiled in concept form at the Geneva auto show in February. The QX30 boasts a higher stance and more rugged appearance than the Q30.

Infiniti characterizes the exterior of the Q30 as “expressive,” but early images of the car are limited to its interior.

“The Q30’s sculpted exterior and asymmetric cabin design are unmistakably Infiniti,” says Roland Krueger, president-Infiniti.

“With the Q30, we are entering a new segment for Infiniti and broadening the offer to our customers,” Krueger says in a statement. “This vehicle is a vital part of our strategy to be a top-tier global manufacturer of premium cars.”

Infiniti says its designers chose only the “highest quality materials and processes to create a premium modern ambiance” inside the Q30.

For example, the interior’s roof and pillars use a Dinamica suede-like material from Italy, a material previously exclusive to the high-end fashion industry.

A special focus also was placed on enhanced seat comfort and support, and the hip point is elevated for a commanding view of the roadway.
