Russia’s TagAZ Adds Second JAC Vehicle Under Own Brand

The C190 CUV is the second Tagaz-badged vehicle sourced from China’s Jianghuai Automobile. The Russian auto maker also assembles three Chery models under the Vortex brand.

Russia’s TagAZ Adds Second JAC Vehicle Under Own Brand

VIENNA – Taganrogsky Avtomobilny Zavod, the Taganog, Russia-based assembler of Hyundai and Chinese models, increases its portfolio of vehicles offered under its own brand.

The JAC Rein, a cross/utility vehicle based on a previous-generation Hyundai Santa Fe design and assembled since 2010 at TagAZ from kits sourced from China’s Jianghuai Automobile Corp. (JAC), now is badged as the Tagaz C190 for the Russian market. It is powered by a 136-hp 2.4L 4-cyl. engine.

Besides the rebadging, TagAZ slightly changed the vehicle’s front and rear exterior. The auto maker also improved the welding process, including increasing the number of weld points.

The base model starts at RR699,900 ($22,770) in Russia.

The C190 is the second Tagaz-badged vehicle sourced from JAC. Last summer the Russian auto maker unveiled the Tagaz C10 sedan, known as the JAC A138 Tojoy in China.

TagAZ also assembles three Chery models under the Vortex brand.

The company assembled 22,762 vehicles through September, up 27.8% from like-2010. The total includes 20,082 cars and SUVs and 2,680 commercial vehicles.
