AVL Renames North American Division

AVL’s former North American Powertrain Engineering Division will become AVL Mobility Technologies.

AVL, an independent company conducting development, simulation and testing in automotive and other industries, announces at 2022 CES that its North American Powertrain Engineering division will be known as AVL Mobility Technologies.

“As a company, we have moved well past traditional powertrains and now our name reflects our strength in new technologies,” Stephan Tarnutzer, AVL Mobility Technologies president, says in a news release.

“At AVL, we create a better world by driving the trends of tomorrow through our technology leadership in sustainable mobility solutions. CES is the perfect place to make this announcement.”

AVL provides solutions in the development and application of e-mobility, fuel cell, battery, ADAS/AD, data intelligence and embedded systems for all types of vehicles.

At CES, AVL demonstrated its ADAS/AD technologies including the AVL Ajunic compute platform, AVL DRIVINGCUBE vehicle-in-the-loop system and Big Data and Analytics Platform.

Additional products include the AVL Flexible Energy Storage System, High Voltage Junction Box and various advanced simulation tools.

These technologies serve as the backbone of many projects and partnerships AVL has formed with leading mobility companies, the company says.
AVL has more than 11,000 employees at 45 technical and engineering centers across 26 countries. AVL North America is headquartered in Plymouth, MI, and has additional locations in Plymouth and Ann Arbor, MI, and Lake Forest, CA.
