New York's Harlem is getting its first Hyundai and Mitsubishi stores.

They are part of an expanded Potamkin East Harlem Auto Mall.

Hyundai joins Mitsubishi at Potamkin as the only import brands represented in the minority-dominant area, “marking a significant milestone in the economic revival of the region,” according to Hyundai Motor America Inc.

Robert Potamkin, chairman of the Potamkin Auto Group, says, “We are delighted that (South) Korean manufacturer Hyundai and Japanese manufacturer Mitsubishi have chosen us to represent them in New York City and to have their facility located in East Harlem.

“This commitment to East Harlem is a tremendous vote of confidence in the future of the community.”

With no current Hyundai dealership operations in Manhattan, Potamkin Hyundai becomes the brand's flagship operation, says Dave Zuchowski, Hyundai's vice president, national sales.

“The dealership's location in economically resurgent Harlem gives it the unique opportunity to tap into the enthusiasm of this vibrant region,” he says.
