The most recent EY Mobility Consumer Index reveals that, for the first time, over half (52%) of consumers intending to buy a car within the next 24 months are considering an electric or hybrid vehicle. This reflects a significant shift in consumer preferences toward more sustainable vehicle options.
EY estimates that by 2030, battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid-electric vehicles (PHEVs) will constitute 55% of total global vehicle sales. While this projection focuses on BEVs and PHEVs, it underscores the broader trend toward electrification in the automotive industry, which is influencing the hybrid market as well.
WardsAuto talks about the survey with Steve Patton, Americas Automotive Sector Leader responsible for coordinating EY's efforts in working with Automotive and Transportation clients, and Dan Becker, Director, Safe Climate Transport Campaign, Center for Biological Diversity.
