Chevrolet Introduces Refreshed ’21 Equinox at Chicago

New styling, the addition of a sporty RS trim level and the inclusion of more safety and driver-assist technology across trims are among the features of the updated ’21 Equinox going on sale in the fall.

Sporty RS trim migrates from other Chevrolet nameplates to Equinox.

Chevrolet announces a refresh of its popular Equinox ahead of the 5-passenger CUV’s introduction today at the Chicago Auto Show.

New styling, the addition of an RS trim level and the inclusion of more safety and driver-assist technology across trims are among the features of the updated ’21 Equinox going on sale in the fall.

Styling highlights include redesigned front and rear fascias, new LED headlamps and a more aggressive grille. The RS trim featured on other Chevrolet nameplates offers a gloss-black grille; black bowtie emblems, badging, side rails and upholstery; red stitching (below, left); and an RS shift knob.

The highest-level Premier trim includes a gloss black grille with chrome inserts, LED headlamps and taillamps, a logo-projection liftgate, French interior stitching and a piano-black finish on the console.

Standard features include lane-keep assist with lane-departure warning, rear-vision camera, following-distance indicator, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, IntelliBeam headlamps and forward collision alert.Chevrolet Equinox RS interior (21).jpg

Available safety and drive-assistance features include high-definition surround-vision camera system, adaptive cruise control, front and rear park assist, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-change alert with side blindspot alert; and safety-alert seat.

The refreshed Equinox comes with turbocharged 1.5L or 2.0L 4-cyls. harnessed to a 6- or 9-speed automatic transmission.

General Motors sold 346,048 units of the Equinox, its second best-selling model after the Chevrolet Silverado pickup, in 2019, Wards Intelligence figures show. That was up 4.0% from 332,618 in 2018. Equinox sales have increased nine of the past 10 years, GM says.
