Magician’s magic ran out on busy Hanoi street.

Tran Dinh Quy should have seen where this was going.

The self-described street magician was fined after driving 1.2 miles (2 km) in a Volkswagen convertible in the Cau Giay district of Hanoi, Vietnam, with his head covered by a black bag.

Quy, 32, who also owns a parking lot elsewhere in the Vietnamese capital, told police he was able to see through the bag but two people who covered their head with it before the stunt said they couldn’t see anything.

A traffic police official says Quy’s performance was dangerous but he could not be punished because existing law prohibits only those who fail to satisfy certain health conditions from driving a car.

Some onlookers recorded the March 3 act with their cellphones, actions likely welcomed by Quy who, according to the VietNamNet Bridge news service, was among the top 100 performers in the 2014 Vietnamʼs Got Talent competition.
