Test Drive To Go (TDTG), the AI-powered platform that lets car shoppers schedule and complete test drives without the usual back-and-forth with a salesperson, today announced its expansion to 10 dealerships in New York, New Jersey and West Michigan. The rollout builds on the company's continued growth across the Northeast and Midwest as more dealers look to modernize the test-drive experience for today's self-directed car buyer.
The initial rollout includes the Crown Motors Group dealerships in Michigan — Crown Volkswagen, Crown Honda, Crown Mazda, Crown Cadillac and Crown Buick — along with BMW of Long Island City, CDJR of Clifton Park, Eagle Kia of Riverhead and Kia of West Nyack in New York, and Buick GMC of Mahwah in New Jersey. Additional dealership partners will be announced in the coming months.
Among the new partners, BMW of Long Island City is the first TDTG dealership to offer valet-only test drives: shoppers hand their own car to a valet when they arrive, and the BMW they booked is waiting for them, ready to drive. It's a concierge experience from the moment they pull in.
Car shoppers have grown used to handling nearly everything else in their lives on their own schedule and largely on their own terms — researching, comparing, and purchasing products online with minimal back-and-forth conversation required. Car buying has been slower to catch up, and the platforms that have tried to close that gap have typically done so by removing the test drive altogether.
TDTG takes a different approach. The platform gives shoppers that same self-directed, low-pressure experience — but keeps the test drive itself in the picture. Buyers select a vehicle and a time that works for them directly from a dealership's website, submitting license, insurance, and trade-in information in advance. From there, communication happens almost entirely through automated emails and text messages, right up until it's time to actually get behind the wheel.
That sets TDTG apart from fully online, marketplace-style retailers such as Carvana, which use automation to let buyers complete a purchase without ever getting behind the wheel first. TDTG's model leaves the test drive itself untouched and automates everything around it instead — an approach the company says fits buyer preferences better: a 2026 Urban Science/Harris Poll study found two-thirds of U.S. auto buyers would consider purchasing directly from a traditional dealership's website, suggesting demand for automation layered onto the existing buying relationship rather than a replacement for it.
That same communication channel also lets buyers set expectations for what happens after the test drive. Shoppers who'd rather not sit through a finance-office pitch can say so upfront, in writing, before ever stepping onto the lot — allowing dealerships to tailor the follow-up experience accordingly and keep in-person conversation focused on what the buyer actually wants to discuss, typically limited to scheduling delivery.
The approach is already producing measurable results for dealerships on the platform, which report a 93% test-drive show rate and a 23% average close rate on scheduled test drives — meaning nearly one in four shoppers who book a test drive through TDTG go on to purchase that vehicle.
Momentum on the platform is building, too. Over the past 60 days, the number of shoppers confirming their arrival for a scheduled test drive through TDTG has risen 50%.
At a growing number of TDTG dealerships, shoppers can take their test drive and then "skip the dealership" altogether, heading home to finish the paperwork by text or email and having the vehicle delivered to them. TDTG is showcasing that experience in new commercials launching in all of its markets.
"Buyers have made it clear they want the convenience of shopping on their own terms, without giving up the parts of car buying that actually matter — like getting behind the wheel before they commit," said Khalida Cook, co-founder and CEO of Test Drive To Go. "New York, New Jersey and West Michigan are a natural next step for us, and we're excited to bring that experience to even more dealerships and their customers."
The expansion adds to TDTG's growing footprint of dealership partners nationwide and reflects continued demand from dealers looking to reduce overhead while giving shoppers a faster, lower-pressure path from browsing to test drive to purchase.
