Snap-on quarterly profit declines

ATLANTA, April 22 (Reuters) - Snap-on Inc. , which makes tools for car repairs and other industrial uses, said Thursday its quarterly profit declined as it took charges.

The Kenosha, Wisconsin, company posted first-quarter net income of $12.7 million, or 22 cents a diluted share, compared with $21.4 million, or 37 cents a share, a year earlier.

Analysts on average had forecast profit of 29 cents a share, according to Reuters Research, a unit of Reuters Group Plc.
