Stellantis is accelerating its low-cost used European lease rental fleet by reconditioning end-of-contract vehicles to be leased again to consumers in Italy.
The circular economy-focused scheme is run through Leasys, a joint venture between Stellantis and Crédit Agricole Personal Finance & Mobility. Cars are reconditioned at the automaker's SUSTAINera Circular Economy Hub at Fiat's Mirafiori plant in Turin.
This facility features a dedicated area of more than 16,400 sq.-ft. (1,524 sq.-m) where the reconditioning process begins with a thorough inspection of the vehicle to identify areas that require refurbishment, both mechanically and with bodywork.
Reconditioned cars are also subjected to further periodic checks at authorized Stellantis workshops.
The reconditioning claims to be able to offer used vehicles as a safe long-term rental solution with competitive rates while simultaneously reducing supply chain waste.
To date, more than 1,500 customers have chosen the Leasys RE-USE solution in Italy, a formula first piloted in 2023, offering bargain-basement lease rentals to consumers.
Francesco Monaco, Stellantis director of SUSTAINera Europe, says: “This initiative with Leasys underscores Stellantis’ leading role in reconditioning and the value of the circular economy model. With SUSTAINera, we actively contribute to expanding the lifespan of parts and vehicles without compromises on quality as the offer guarantees Stellantis performance specifications.”
