Kia Motors America announces pricing and specifications for the ’22 Niro battery-electric and plug-in hybrid-electric small CUVs.
Both models feature new Kia badging on the grille, tailgate, steering wheel hub and wheel center caps.
The Niro BEV’s 64-kWh battery and 201-hp electric motor deliver an EPA-estimated 239 miles (385 km) of range on a single charge.
For the new model year, the 10.25-in. (26-cm) touchscreen becomes standard. Navigation, UVO link, Sirius XM satellite radio and premium Harmon/Kardon sound system are bundled into the touchscreen.
The battery-electric Niro EX is priced at $39,990 and the EX Premium is priced at $44,650. Destination charges of $1,175 are not included. The CUV remains eligible for the $7,500 federal tax credit along with any applicable state and local incentives.
Standard features on both Niro BEV trim levels include forward collision warning; forward collision avoidance assist with car, pedestrian and cyclist detection; blindspot collision warning; lane keep assist with lane departure warning; lane following assist; smart cruise control with stop-and-go; highway driving assist; and driver attention warning with lead vehicle departure alert. Reverse parking distance warning is standard on the EX Premium trim level.
The ’22 Niro PHEV is powered by a 1.6L GDI 4-cyl. with electric motor producing 139 hp and 195 lb.-ft. (264 Nm) of torque. It delivers an EPA-estimated 26 miles (42 km) of all-electric range on a single charge and achieves combined fuel economy of 46 mpg (5.1 L/100 km).
The LXS trim level is priced at $29,590; the EX, $33,390; and EX Premium, $36,490. All prices exclude $1,175 in destination and handling charges. The ’22 Niro PHEV remains eligible for a
$4,543 federal tax credit along with any applicable state and local incentives.
