Geely Auto sales soared 99% year-on-year in November to 102,400 units, the first month in which China’s largest privately owned automaker’s deliveries topped six figures.

The subsidiary of Geely Auto Group says the result was up 7% from October.

The New Emgrand led the way, climbing 32% to 28,842 units. Launched in 2009, the sedan was substantially upgraded in 2014 with the addition of new technology such as CVT gearboxes and ultra-fuel-efficient small-displacement engines. Emgrand sales now have exceeded 1 million units.

Geely sold 5,172 copies of the Geely GC9 – known as the Emgrand GT in export markets – in November, allowing it to remain China’s best-selling domestic B-Segment sedan.

The automaker’s pivot to an SUV strategy in March with the launch of the Bo Yue continues to pay off. Its November sales reached 18,402 units, while the Vision SUV totaled 10,942. China’s first urban CUV, the Emgrand GS, topped 10,000 deliveries.

The Emgrand GL launched in late September, also sold more than 10,000 units in November.

Geely exports remained a weak spot with only a little more than 1,700 sales in November, although this was a 102% increase over like-2016.

Through November, Geely sales rose 44% year-on-year to 657,621 units.
