Jeep PHEVs Front and Center for FCA at CES

FCA is using CES 2020 in Las Vegas to demonstrate the company’s newest technologies related to electrification, user experience and connectivity.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ Jeep brand will display three plug-in hybrid-electric vehicles at this week's CES 2020 in Las Vegas.

The Jeep Wrangler, Compass and Renegade “4xe” models are the first step in FCA’s plan to offer more than 30 electrified nameplates globally by 2022. All will debut this year.

“Jeep electric vehicles will be the most efficient and responsible Jeep vehicles ever, providing absolute and quiet open-air freedom while taking performance, 4x4 capability and driver confidence to the next level,” FCA says in a news release.

“With greater torque and immediate engine response, Jeep electric vehicles will offer an even more fun-to-drive experience on the road, and more capability than ever off-road.”

FCA also says the Fiat Concept Centoventi battery-electric vehicle, first introduced at last year’s Geneva auto show, will make its North American debut at CES 2020.

The Fiat Concept Centoventi addresses electric mobility with basic, customizable solutions. FCA describes the vehicle as a “blank canvas” ready to be painted to suit the customer’s changing tastes and needs, without customization restrictions linked to the time of purchase.

Produced in just one color, the exterior may be personalized with a choice of four roof options, four bumpers, four wheel covers and four external wrappings. From the instrument cluster to storage compartments and from seats to child-restraint systems, interchangeable interior features may be installed in “plug and play” mode by the customer on the vehicle’s dashboard.

The Fiat Concept Centoventi’s battery modular architecture allows its range to be varied to meet specific needs from 60-300 miles (97-485 km), making it ideal for both urban commuting and weekend getaways, FCA says.

A large tailgate display enables the Fiat Concept Centoventi to become a social media device on which messages may be shared with the outdoor world. When the vehicle is in motion, the car will only show the Fiat logo, but once it stops, the driver can switch to “messenger” mode and create a new message.

Another concept, the Airflow Vision, is described as a sculptural design concept that envisions the next generation of premium transportation and user experience by considering how the driver and passengers could interact with advanced technologies.

“Using the dimensions and flat load floor of the Chrysler Pacifica PHEV, the interior creates a spacious environment for all occupants,” FCA says. “A simple, modern and spacious interior, accented by a light, calming color palette, offers passengers a home-away-from-home environment and a first-class travel experience.”

Also at CES, the automaker will offer the new Jeep 4x4 Adventure VR Experience, providing a simulated off-road journey on the Hell’s Revenge trail near Moab, UT, a popular destination for Jeep off-roaders. The route offers different sections from intermediate to difficult.

“As an added bonus, among the virtual assets within the software is a driver’s point-of-view inside the new Jeep Wrangler 4xe, giving participants a sneak peek of the most advanced Jeep Wrangler the company has ever built,” FCA says.FCA at CES 2020 (2).jpg
