FRANKFURT, June 3 (Reuters) - German carmaker Volkswagen AG , said on Monday it was recalling 950,000 small cars world-wide due to brake problems -- equivalent to nearly a fifth of its annual production.
Europe's biggest carmaker said the recall affected 275,000 cars in Germany and would hit the models sold as Polo and Lupo in Europe.
Shares in the firm were trading down 1.13 percent at 55.86 euros by 1427 GMT compared to a 0.31 percent rise in the wider European auto sector .
