Vauxhall/Opel unveils the second-generation Grandland midsize SUV with all models using electrified powertrains.
Several of its design features were first seen on the Opel Experimental concept car from 2022 including the 3D Vizor with illuminated logos, Intelli-Lux Pixel HD lighting system with over 50,000 individual elements and the use of the BEV-native STLA Medium platform. It also boasts a new flat battery-packaging design accommodating a 98-kWh battery allowing the Stellantis brand to claim a 435-mile (700-km) range. It also claims to charge to 80% on fast chargers in just 26 minutes.
Customers wanting more flexible powertrains are offered the Grandland plug-in hybrid which claims up to 53 miles (85 km) of electric-only range and the Grandland mild hybrid with 48V technology.
Inside, attention is paid to comfort and sustainability starting with the automaker’s ergonomic AGR seats certified by Aktion Gesunder Rücken e. V. (Campaign for Healthy Backs). These feature powered bolsters to improve lateral comfort adjustment thanks to two pneumatic pockets located in the backrest’s side bolsters.
The seats also offer ventilation and massage for the driver and an Intelli-Seat feature in the front seats, a slot that relieves the pressure on the tailbone. Vauxhall/Opel says all fabrics in the interior are 100% recycled.
Opel CEO Florian Huettl says, “This is a big step in our electric offensive."
