Seventh-Gen Mustang to Debut at Detroit Auto Show

Various media reports say the seventh-generation Mustang will be the last gasoline-powered version of the sports car and a battery-electric model is planned for around 2028.

Ford’s seventh-generation Mustang will make its global debut Sept. 14 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

The event, titled The Stampede, will welcome Mustang owners, fans, media and Ford employees to Hart Plaza downtown. The Stampede will be broadcast live on social channels, including Ford’s YouTube website and Facebook page.

Various media reports say the seventh-generation Mustang will be the last gasoline-powered version of the sports car and a battery-electric model is planned for around 2028. Ford already produces a BEV with Mustang styling cues, the Mustang Mach-E CUV, which arrived on the market in late 2021.

Owners and enthusiasts are invited to The Drive Home, which begins Sept. 6 at LeMay – America’s Car Museum in Tacoma, WA. Participants will cross nine states, before owners gather at Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn, MI, to parade together to The Stampede reveal event.

Mustang owners interested in joining The Drive Home or attending The Stampede debut event can find more details and registration at www.mustangstampededetroit.com.

“When we conceived the idea of an indoor-outdoor Detroit Auto Show, The Stampede was the kind of event we hoped and believed was possible,” says Rod Alberts, the show’s executive director. “We are proud to support Ford with what will be an absolutely iconic milestone, celebrating the heritage and future of the Mustang, as well as the global mobility industry, right here in Detroit.”

Entering its seventh year, The Drive Home celebrates America’s motoring legacy throughout the country in the days leading up to the Detroit auto show.
