Pricing Announced for All-New Mercedes-Maybach GLS

The first Maybach SUV will start at $160,500, with a 550-hp bi-turbo V-8 capable of sprinting to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds.

Mercedes-Benz announces the all-new Mercedes-Maybach GLS will be priced at $160,500 excluding $1,050 destination and delivery charges. The first Maybach SUV arrives in U.S. dealerships in late 2020.

The Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4Matic represents a new top-of-the-range option in the luxury SUV segment, Mercedes says in a news release. Maybach-exclusive features include the distinctive grille with vertical chrome louvers, fully retractable electronic running boards and 22-in. multi-spoke alloy wheels.

Standard interior technology includes dual 12.3-in. (31-cm) digital display screens with touchscreen, the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system, augmented video for navigation, smartphone integration and Burmester High-End 3D Surround Sound System.

The Maybach GLS’s 4-seat configuration features two individual executive rear seats (below), a center armrest and available folding tables. All seats in the Maybach GLS are heated and ventilated and offer active multicontour adjustment with massage functionality. A 5-seat configuration is available.

Additional interior elements include heated and cooled cupholders, wireless charging in the front and rear and extended ambient lighting in the Nappa leather headliner. The Air Balance cabin fragrance system offers a signature fragrance for the Mercedes-Maybach: the light and floral white osmanthus blossom.

The Maybach GLS offers customization options and appointments, including Maybach-exclusive features such as two-tone paint and two-tone Nappa leather upholstery options. The GLS 600 4Matic also can be equipped with a refrigerated compartment and custom champagne flutes.

The Maybach GLS 600 4Matic (pictured below) is equipped with a 4.0L bi-turbo V-8 with EQ boost and a 48V onboard electrical system churning out 550 hp and 538 lb.-ft. (729 Nm) of torque, capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 4.8 seconds. The integrated starter-generator can produce up to 21 hp and 184 lb.-ft. (250 Nm) for short periods.

The intelligent E-Active Body Control suspension features a camera that automatically scans the road ahead to proactively counteract bumps and dips for a smooth ride, and it will lean into curves for more dynamic handling, Mercedes-Benz says. Another comfort feature: When the doors are opened, the suspension slightly lowers the vehicle for easier ingress and egress.
