Mazda Announces Pricing for Battery-Electric MX-30 CUV

The MX-30’s front-wheel-drive electric motor delivers 143 hp and maximum torque of 200 lb.-ft. The 35.5-kWh lithium-ion battery provides an EPA-estimated 100 miles (161 km) of range on a full charge.

The battery-electric ’22 Mazda MX-30 will be priced starting at $33,470 when it goes on sale in California in October, the automaker says.

The MX-30, Mazda’s first BEV designed for the North American market, resembles the gasoline-powered Mazda CX-30. The MX-30’s front-wheel-drive electric motor delivers 143 hp and maximum torque of 200 lb.-ft. (271 Nm).

The CUV’s 35.5-kWh lithium-ion battery provides an EPA-estimated 100 miles (161 km) of range on a full charge. It can be charged to 80% within about 36 minutes using a Level 3 DC fast charger; 2 hours, 50 minutes on a 240V Level 2 AC charger; and 13 hours, 40 minutes on a 110V Level 1 AC charger, Mazda says.

Owners will receive a $500 credit for use at ChargePoint charging network locations, or it can be applied toward the purchase of an in-home ChargePoint Level 2 charger. Owners who want to go on extended trips can take advantage of the Mazda MX-30 Elite Access Loaner Program, offering access to other Mazda vehicles for up to 10 days per year during the first three years of ownership. Standard steering wheel paddles allow the driver to adjust the level of regenerative braking to what feels comfortable based on the driving situation. The MX-30 also generates audible feedback that is in sync with the electric motor.

The MX-30’s interior uses environmentally friendly materials such as cork, which pays homage to Mazda’s origin as a cork manufacturer more than 100 years ago. What Mazda calls a floating center console has cork accents and allows for additional storage space as well as two USB audio inputs and a 150W AC power outlet.

The two-tone interior features leatherette seats contrasted by gray or black using 20% recycled threads. The door trims use recycled plastic bottles, while the door grips also feature cork.

The 8.8-in. (22-cm) center display features the latest Mazda Connect system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. All MX-30 models offer many i-Activsense safety features including adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, blindspot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist with new Road Keep Assist, driver attention alert and high beam control.

Also standard are heated front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, auto-dimming rearview mirror, 7-in. (18-cm) digital gauge display, power moonroof, eight-way power driver seat with power lumbar support and memory, rearview camera with rear parking sensors and 18-in. silver finish aluminum alloy wheels.

The MX-30 is available in Ceramic Metallic, Polymetal Gray or Jet Black as single-tone exterior paint options. Machine Gray Metallic carries a $495 surcharge; Polymetal Gray and Ceramic Metallic Multi-Tone are an additional $895, and Soul Red Crystal Multi-Tone is $995 extra.

The $3,010 Premium Plus package introduces all-new i-Activsense safety features as well as a Bose 12-speaker audio system, heated steering wheel, 360° View Monitor with front parking sensors and a complimentary three-month trial of SiriusXM satellite radio.

Prices do not include $1,175 for destination and handling.
