Skoda’s expansion into international markets continues with new and ambitious additions to its range. The goal is to lift average prices of the Volkswagen Group’s Czech Republic-built brand.
At next month’s Geneva auto show Skoda will launch its new-generation Scout, a CUV slotted in the brand’s Octavia range. The Scout comes with the Haldex permanent all-wheel-drive system already available in the Octavia Wagon, but with a higher suspension setting and 17-in. wheels giving it 1.3 ins. (33 mm) more ground clearance than the standard Octavia.
The higher profile contributes to the Scout’s off-road capabilities, while on the road it will be noticed for its dedicated styling. Skoda says the Scout will come with updated engines (two diesels and one gasoline) that will improve fuel efficiency an average 20%.
