TAIPEI – Taiwan’s Pihsiang Machinery Mfg. Co. Ltd. will showcase its Greenrunner electric vehicles at next month’s Paris auto show.

The company says it has signed a letter of intent with a French partner to begin distributing the vehicles to European dealers in the fourth quarter.

Earlier this year, Pihsiang announced the successful development of three Greenrunner models: a 2-seater, 4-seater and light pickup.

The three models feature the use of aerospace-grade technology in key components, including plastic/composite body parts and aluminum-alloy structures, Pihsiang says.

All are powered by lithium iron phosphate batteries produced by Pihsiang’s fully-owned subsidiary, Pihsiang Energy Technology Co. Ltd. under license from Phostech Lithium Inc. Buyers can choose between two battery-pack options: the general purpose GE1200 or high performance EP1500.

With the high-performance battery that can be recharged in as little as two hours, the Greenrunner vehicles can achieve up to 50 mph (80 km/h) and a cruising range of about 93 miles (150 km), Pihsaing says.
