Ford Motor Co. has entered into an agreement with Sony Electronics to offer Sony Corp.-brand audio systems in Ford and Mercury vehicles in North America starting next year.
The first vehicle to feature the Sony system will be revealed April 4 at the New York Auto Show.
Ford has had past collaborations with Sony, including a limited-edition Focus sedan offered in 2000. More recently, Ford offered a “Sound Designed by Sony” package in the Focus in North America.
In Europe, Sony audio systems are offered in the Ford Mondeo, Focus, C-Max, S-Max and Galaxy.
Partnering with Sony will give Ford vehicles added cachet, the auto maker says, citing a Harris Interactive survey that ranks Sony as the top consumer brand in the U.S.
