Bosch Adds Fuel Injectors to Thai Product Portfolio

The factory will apply Bosch’s proprietary injection technology and feature electronically controlled material flow, automated end-of-line testing and parts calibration.

Robert Bosch Automotive Thailand is building that country’s first-ever fuel-injector factory.

The plant, with annual production capacity of 1 million units, will service Thailand’s growing base of OEM vehicle manufacturers, the company says in a statement.

Construction of the factory 85 miles (140 km) southeast of Bangkok will be completed by year’s end. It will apply Bosch’s proprietary injection technology and feature electronically controlled material flow, automated end-of-line testing and parts calibration.

The supplier says the investment reflects its view Thailand is strategically well-placed in the Asia-Pacific region.

“The country offers manufacturers a solid infrastructure base, abundant skilled labor, advanced technical universities and vocational colleges, a strong automotive supplier base, free trade within ASEAN and several bilateral trade and investment agreements,” Martin Knoss, ASEAN regional president-Bosch Gasoline Systems Div., tells The Nation newspaper.

Knoss says Boschʼs advancement of expertise in the supplier industry will attract other OEMs to invest in Thailand.

There are six Bosch fuel-injector factories worldwide, two of them in Asia.

Bosch already manufacturers a range of automotive components in Thailand, including brake systems, diesel systems, wiper systems and engine-cooling fans.
